Zambia Spelling Bee (ZSB) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to
promoting literacy, confidence, public speaking, and academic excellence among learners across Zambia through structured spelling bee competitions and educational programs. Established over six years ago, ZSB has grown into one of Zambia’s leading literacy-focused educational platforms, providing learners with opportunities to develop communication skills, expand vocabulary, and build self confidence in competitive and academic environments.
Through school activations, national competitions, training initiatives, and strategic partnerships, ZSB continues to create inclusive platforms that identify and nurture young talent from both private and government schools across the country. The organization remains committed to empowering learners, strengthening literacy standards, and creating opportunities for Zambian students to compete and excel at both national and international.
Our impact extends beyond competitions. Zambia Spelling Bee continues to identify, nurture, and elevate talented learners from diverse educational backgrounds, including under-served government schools.
One of our most notable success stories involves two learners from Chinika
Secondary School, a government school supported through our school activation initiatives, who qualified to represent Zambia at the Africa Spelling Bee hosted in Nigeria in 2025. One of the two learners, Gideon Chisale, emerged as the Best Essay Writer at the continental competition, competing against top participants from across Africa. This achievement reflects the transformative impact of providing access, exposure, and educational opportunities to learners who would otherwise remain undiscovered.
This milestone reinforces Zambia Spelling Bee’s commitment to promoting literacy excellence, educational inclusion, and national representation at international level. It also demonstrates the tangible outcomes that strategic partnerships and sponsored school activations can achieve within government and under-served schools.

Zambia Spelling Bee offers and engages in a comprehensive range of programs and activities designed to engage students and enhance their spelling abilities:
Annual Spelling Bee Competition: Our flagship event, the annual spelling beecompetition, provides a platform for students from across Zambia to compete at the school, district, and national levels.
Tots Spelling Bee: The Tots Program is an early childhood initiative designed to introduce young learners to fundamental language and spelling skills. It focuses on building basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence through structured and age-appropriate activities. The programm aims to establish a strong foundation in literacy while fostering an early interest in language development.

Fun Mall Spelling Bee: The Mall Spelling Bee is a key outreach and promotional initiative designed to enhance brand visibility and expand audience engagement. Hosted in high-traffic public spaces such as shopping malls, it provides an effective platform for marketing and advertising while reaching a diverse and wider demographic. This activation complements the core spelling bee competitions by creating additional opportunities to engage with prospective participants. It also supports talent identification, encourages community participation, and promotes interest in the organization’s programs in an accessible and interactive setting.
Corporate Spelling Bee Competitions: The Corporate Spelling Bee
Competitions are designed to engage the corporate sector through a structured and interactive platform that promotes learning, teamwork, and professional development. The initiative provides organisations with an opportunity to involve their employees in an intellectually stimulating activity that strengthens communication and language skills.
