The Salimatou Foundation for Education (SaFE) is a Gambian education-focused civil society organization dedicated to promoting accessible, affordable, safe, and quality education for all. Founded in 2015 by education advocate Salimatou Fatty, the organization has become a leading voice for literacy development, educational advocacy, and youth empowerment in The Gambia.

As the official spelling bee partner for The Gambia, SaFE organizes regional and national spelling bee competitions that provide students with opportunities to develop literacy, critical thinking, public speaking, and academic excellence. Through its spelling bee programs, SaFE identifies and prepares outstanding Gambian spellers to represent the country at the African Spelling Bee Championship, helping place Gambian students on the continental stage.

Driven by its vision of “Free and Quality Education for All,” SaFE continues to impact young learners across The Gambia through educational programs, advocacy campaigns, mentorship initiatives, and literacy-centered competitions.
