The Spelling Bee Association of Lesotho (SBALE), national partner of the African Spelling Bee, delivers structured literacy and academic programs across Lesotho. SBALE has engaged 94 schools nationwide, reaching an estimated 32,900 learners (based on an average of 350 learners per school), while activating at least 1,128 participants annually at district-level competitions (minimum of 12 learners per school).
At the national level, SBALE hosted 248 top-performing learners at the 2025 National Championships, reflecting a strong and competitive pipeline of talent. Through these programs, learners demonstrate measurable improvement in English proficiency, confidence, public speaking, and critical thinking.
SBALE also facilitates Lesotho’s participation in continental platforms under the African Spelling Bee, providing learners with international exposure and competitive experience.
Through its growing footprint, SBALE continues to advance literacy, academic excellence, and youth development—building a generation of confident, articulate, and globally competitive African learners.
